Peace be with you. It’s that time of year again, or almost, to kiss another year goodbye and good riddance and to embrace and welcome in the new year. Same old song and dance, just a different number right? Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. We can pray.

To close out 2016, let us give thanks to God for all that he has done for us this year. For all the guidance, for all the patience, for all the kindness and for His never ending love for us. I for one am very grateful for the things that have happened to me this year. Not all were positive but, we learn from the negative as well. Through the grace of God, we can get through the good and bad and give him thanks in the end.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Let us remember those we lost this year. Those we knew personally and those whom we didn’t. Let us pray for the repose of their souls and also for the souls in purgatory. A Prayer For the Deceased- Eternal Rest, grant to them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

As a country, let us ask for forgiveness. For the sin of the flesh, for the sin of continued abortion, for the sin of indifference, and for all the things that our country has done to go against Your will Almighty Father. Let us all do our best daily to emulate Jesus Christ and let us pray daily in the words that He taught us: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Let us ask God for the strength, wisdom and guidance to do his will in 2017 and set our wills aside. Let us do our part to be the light of Christ in a dark world. Let us show the world our happiness and love that we have in Jesus Christ. And finally, may we all come together as children of God and start loving each other like we are supposed to do.

Just Breathe

Gorgeous Beach Landscape

This time of year can be hectic, chaotic and stressful for people. Lately, I’ve been fitting into that category. This is when we need to take a step back and just breathe. God gives us plenty of reminders that He loves us and will always take care of us. So if you are like me and are in need of a little “pick me up,” below are some verses of scripture that I use for a spiritual lift. Continue to be patient as we wait for Christ. Enjoy & God bless.

Ephesians 5:2 – And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

John 15:7 – If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Joshua 1:9 – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

2 Timothy 3: 1- 5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

I Love This Time of Year

This is definitely my favorite time of year. Cold crisp mornings and the sounds of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra Christmas songs playing. The house is warm and so is the coffee. Yup, this is definitely my favorite time of year and I thank God for times like these.

As I sit here eating menudo with my bride at our favorite Mexican  restaurant, I am happy and sometimes that is all a person needs. To be lost in the moments…thank you God.
