Blessed Jose Sanchez del Rio and the Rest of My “Go To” Saints

Go To Saints.png

One of the things that I have learned since coming back to the Catholic faith is asking for the intercessions of my “go to” saints. As a child, I used to “pray” to a few saints but of course, mostly to Jesus. As I’ve matured in my faith, I have come to appreciate the power of intercessory prayer.

Think about it. How many times have you asked someone “pray for me.” Numerous times I’m sure. There is nothing like asking a close friend or a relative to pray for you, especially someone whom you feel is very religious. This is no different.

When I ask any of the saints pictured above to intercede on my behalf, it’s like asking one of my best friends to take a personal message to Jesus for me. Don’t believe me? Check out this passage from the bible: Revelation 8:3-4 And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne, and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel.

I feel that this is one of the most misunderstood things about Catholics by our Protestant brothers and sisters.

In the picture above are my “go to” saints. Saints Peter, Paul, Pope John XXIII, Padre Pio, Maximillian Kolbe and Pope John Paul II. Blessed Anacleto Gonzales Flores, Miguel Augustin Pro, Pier Giorgio Frassati and Jose Sanchez del Rio who will be canonized this Sunday October 16, 2016. So who are your “go to” saints? Take care and God bless!
